Free snacks for pupils
Posted: 21st February 2019Children are starting their school day by feeding their brains with a free snack.
Every pupil at Little Parndon Primary Academy is being given a choice of cereal or bagel each day, thanks to a Sugar Tax grant.
The school has also been given a selection of wellbeing games for pupils to play together and build friendships.
Kirstie Clark, co-head of school, said: “This means children who are not able to access breakfast or are in a rush and do not have a proper breakfast will get a snack when they get to school to fill them up for the day ahead.
“We have tweaked the start of our school day to give children time to eat their snacks. Instead of lining up outside and getting into class at 8.50am, they now come straight inside at 8.40am for morning activities and snacks. It makes for a smoother transition into the day.”
The snacks will be available each day until 2020.
